vinegar mixed with a non abrasive scouring powder. then glass cleaner after the brown is gone.

I use a piece of newspaper and water as recommended by the manufacturer..Works for me..

You can get a very inexpensive "dry" cleaner for this at any good hearth/fireplace store. It is a mildly abrasive cream similar to the old Johnson's glass wax. Wipe it on, wipe it off. The store I work for sells it for under $5 a bottle. Works like magic.
